 Van S. Ong – RN President -2009-2011
He retired in 2009 as nurse manager in the Emergency Room, HFHS after 37 1/2 years of service. With one brother and 8 sisters, 7 nurses in the family. He is married to Nora also a nurse and active member of FANA. He is well -known as the expert and advisor in handling Medical & Surgical Missions to any 3rd World Countries in need and have spearheaded many missions in the Philippine regions. He has extended widely his busy full time volunteerism @ World Medical Relief sorting out equipments and supplies. He was just recently elected as the President of the FILAMCCO, the mother organization of all Filipino 62 different organizations. This his passion in life to serve the needy ever since he became a long time leader of International Kiwanis in particular , the Kiwanis Cosmopolitan of Detroit and past President of the Ang Bisaya.
 
 Cecilia Piccio Espino, RN, BSN- President –Elect 2009-2011
Been a professional nurse for over 30 years now and currently working as a Clinical Allergy Coordinator and Dermatology Staff at John D. Dingell VA Medical Center in Detroit, MI She has extensive clinical background in Psychiatric Nursing with the DMC as well. She loves to travel, shopping and gardening and loves to read quietly while enjoying the beautiful breeze and flowers from the backyard of her home. She enjoys helping the needy and had participated in Medical & Surgical Mission. She has been also an active member of the Kiwanis Metro North.
 
 Angela P. Bedia, RN, BSN – Charter President, 2005-2007; Treasurer 2009-2011
She has been working at John D. Dingell VA Medical Center for over 20 years now and currently she is the Clinical Dermatology Nurse Coordinator for over 10 years. Married to Dr. Ernesto Bedia and blessed with 3 children: Jessica – VP of: Lava.net; Yvonne, RN, BSN, Clinical Nurse Informatics, DMC; Ernest, Junior Executive Engr. Continental Group. Angie loves to be with people that are honest and sincere and by nature (came from a politician family) she is always helping people in need. Actively involves in the community –just elected as community Representative of the Filipino Community.
 
 Luzviminda L. Cunanan, RN – Business Manager, 2009-2011
She is known “Luz” to all of us, very active Lifetime Charter Member, Board Member and Education Planning Committee from 2005-2009; Alternate Representative to COMON; Co-chaired the most successful Medical Surgical & Dental Mission in Pangasinan, Phils; Co-chaired the 2nd Induction & Inaugural Ball in 2007 and was awarded Excellence in Administration. She is Adminstrator/Director of Clinical Services of Goodwill Home Health Care formerly Excellence Home Care in Madison Heights. She is a graduate from University of the East with Degree of Science in Education and from Chinese General Hospital School of Nursing. She is married to Artemio and both love with passion to dance and travel all over the World.

 Melchora Natavio, RN, MSN - Secretary 2009-2011
Melchora (Choli) is an alumna of UST, Manila and Oakland University, Michigan. She retired in 2007 as House Director at North Oakland Medical Centers in Pontiac, MI. Experienced in critical care, oncology, adolescent pediatrics, and as nursing educator. She is married to Teofanes Natavio, also an RN and retired. Three children are in medical field. John, RN, MSN is an instructor at WSU, College of Nursing; Eduardo, RN, MSAnesthesia, CRNA at Genesys Medical Center; and Melissa, MD, OB-Gyn, is a fellow in Family Planning at the U. of Sothern California and a full time MPH student @ UCLA. Enjoys reading, traveling, shopping, visiting grandson Ethan, dancing with husband, joined Catholic Pilgrimages and participates Medial Missions in the Philippines.
 
 Yvonne P. Bedia, BFA, RN, BSN – PRO 2009-2011
She is the youngest Executive Board Member currently working as a Corporate Clinical Transformation Specialist at the Detroit Medical Center (DMC). She has a passion for technology, and also, like her mother Angie, has a passion for nursing. After obtaining her Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree in computer animation and interactive media at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, she pursued her BSN under the accelerated program at the University of New Mexico and started as a nurse at the PresbyterianHospital in Albuquerque. She was in the 2007 Medical Mission and enjoyed it with pride.
 
 Natividad Tuliao, RN, BSN - Auditor, 2005-2011
Known to her friends as Nathie (formerly Domasin), Administrator/owner of Caring Choice Network & Services (Professional Home Care Agency); married to Accountant Angel with a son, Nate, married to Dr. Lory and a daughter, Gina, RN.  Nathie has a new found love of her life, NJ her first grandson. Nathie is Lifetime Charter Member of FANA, elected Auditor for the last two terms, active member of Kiwanis Cosmopolitan, currently Vice President for the last two years term. When she is not with NJ, she is busy volunteering her time at World Medical Relief or at the Kiwanis volunteer works. She participated at FANA’s Medical Mission.

Known to her friends as “Nene” a Lifetime Charter FANA Member and, for her dedication received a Presidential Special Recognition Award as long time chairperson of Membership Committee; Treasurer from 2005-2009; Education Committee member; co-chaired the 2nd Induction & Inaugural Ball in 2007. She is married to Orland, also RN with a son, and a daughter. Currently, she works at John D. Dingell VA Medical Center in the Intensive Care and previously worked and retired at the Detroit Receiving Hospital as an RNCNIII Preceptor – Behavioral Medicine and Neuro Science Dept. She loves to sing and dance and recently joined the Kiwanis Metro North. She participated at FANA’s Medical Mission in Pangasinan, Phils.
 
 Arlene Hortelano Luis, BSN, RN – Board of Director 2009-2011
Arlene is a dedicated Lifetime Charter Member, served as a Recording Secretary during the founding years until 2009 and was awarded Excellence in Clinical Practice, member of the Eduational Planning Committee, and currently elected Board of Director. Married to “Boy” and they have a son. She is currently a Charge nurse/Board Runner at the Operating Room at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital and past RNCM at Unisource Surgery Center. A graduate from Central Philippine University, College of Nursing in 1978. She participated as a surgical Nurse at the recent Medical Surgical Mission in Dagupan City, Phils.
 
 Belinda Hernandez, RN, BSN, MSA – Parliamentarian - 2009 – 2011
Her nursing career started in West Virginia before moving to Harper Hospital ICU as assistant head nurse. Because of her passion in public health service, she continued her path at the Detroit Department of Health and Wellness Promotion where she is currently working for 32 years functioning in various capacities in Administration and grant project programs. She is also a state Certified Immunization Nurse Educator and a consultant to private providers, schools, and local public health entities in Detroit. She is the immediate past president of the University of Sto. Tomas Nursing Alumni of Michigan, and an active member of several organizations in the Filipino community. Her involvement in humanitarian service also extends to those with domestic problems needing shelter and medical care. Her ultimate motto in life is the “Golden Rule” and service to humanity. She loves adventure, traveling, and relaxing in peace and comfort.

 Barbara Stoutermire, MPH, BS, RN
Barb has been working over 16 years at the VA Medical Center, currently working in Firm B, a multi-specialty Clinic. She has extensive clinical experiences in Education, Research and Administration. She graduated in 1979 from the University Of Michigan School Of Public Health in Nursing. She has been a Lifetime Member of the Far Eastern & American Nurses (FANA) of Great Lakes and very active with the Education Committee for our annual presentation.  Hobbies:  reading, traveling and volunteering jobs in the community and loves to shares her knowledge and expertise among FANA Members.
